    Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology
    Basic course for linguists, phoneticians and speech therapists
    • articulation: speech organs, sound production (place and manner)
    • phonetic transcription: prototypical transcription, transcription of sound samples
    • suprasegmental phonetics: syllable, stress, intonation
    • introduction to phonology: phonemes, features, phonological processes

    Phonetics II:
    Lecture for linguists, phoneticians and speech therapists

    • auditory phonetics: basics in psychophysics and psychoacoustics, speech perception
      auditory speech disorders: disorders of central and peripheral processing
    • neurophonetics: the central nervous system (basics), the function of the CNS in speech,
      imaging techniques: fMRI, EEG, MEG
      neural models of speech production and speech perception


    Hands-on training in Articulatory Phonetics (normal speech):
    Seminar for phoneticians and speech therapists (masters level)

    • Introduction to SpeechTrainer:
      production of vowels and consonants using articulatory parameters
      production of utterances using a segmental control concept (e.g. the oral-glottal timing of voiceless plosives)
    • Introduction to Speak:
      articulatory-acoustic realtions: the articulatory and acoustic vowel space
      production of utterances using the gestural control concept: the articulatory-auditory-relations


    Hands-on training in Acoustic Phonetics (normal and disordered speech):
    Seminar for phoneticians and speech therapists (masters level)

    • Introduction to PRAAT:
      quantitative analysis for vowels and consonants: formant patterns, noise
      quantitative analysis of temporal aspects: duration of sounds, syllables, utterances
    • Introduction to PRAAT-scripting:
      Use of acoustic analysis procedures in dysarthric speech
